This framed pair of sketches carries a real piece of San Diego restaurant history. Hand-drawn on a metallic gold-toned material (copper) in the 1960s, they hung for many years at the First Edition Restaurant in Mission Valley, near its well-known wall of books.
The pair came from a former bartender who worked at the restaurant in the early 1970s. Their simple, elegant lines make them easy to hang in a study, bar or dining room, and they would appeal to collectors of San Diego history and mid-century décor.
