Condition: Pre-owned, no chips or cracks visible; a minor glaze imperfection near the back rim.
This cheerful dish is hand painted in the Puebla tradition, with a scalloped cobalt blue rim, a maroon-and-white triangle border, a green crackle-glaze ground and a bold central floral medallion in red, yellow, sky blue, purple and maroon.
The back is signed “HERNANDEZ, Pue. Mex.” with the artist’s painted mark. Small holes on the back allow it to hang on a wall, or it can be used for serving. We describe it as Talavera-style, since “Talavera” is a protected term in Mexico reserved for certified workshops.
